Safety first

In a collaboration among teams, when everything is going smooth, there is room to experiment and innovate and to take risks in an attempt to delight customers.

However, when there is tension and pressure, everyone defaults to an approach of 'Safety first', because nobody wants to be the person that is responsible for a delay or failure, which starts to look very probable.

When operating in a 'Safety first' mode, we resort to sticking to the basics and not venturing beyond what's clearly defined.

We see the same in sports teams too.

When operating in a 'Safety first' mode, there is no room for magic.

'Safety first' is important. After all, nobody wants to get hurt.

But don't just stop there.

Unlock the magic.
