The Architect's Plan

If you're building a home, you start with a scaled down but precise plan - the architect's plan - of what the house will look like.

Then, you lay the foundation, you build the walls and ceiling and then do the interiors.

If you try to do the interiors in an impeccable way without laying the foundation first, it'll all collapse and crumble into dust.

Habits work the same way.

Start by designing a scaled down version of your entire day or week (whatever feels like a repeatable cycle). I do it at a week level.

Outline how you want to spend the hours in your week.

Then, figure out what time of day you want to do certain things.

Build your routine right, starting with the architect's plan, and you'll make your habits stick.
