Sabbaticals

Over the last twelve years, since I first started posting on this blog, I've averaged 3-4 posts a week. But, for the past few months, I've taken a break from the posts.

I've taken breaks before too, typically for a month or two at a stretch and never longer. This one has lasted nearly six months though. This has been more of a sabbatical than a vacation.

A sabbatical is an intentional and lengthy break from our regular work to focus on something tangentially related at best, like traveling the world or writing a book. It is meant to be a refreshing experience to rekindle old passions and initiate new ones, so that we return with more vigour and energy to where we left off.

While this has been a lengthy break for me, it hasn't been strictly intentional. I did intend to take a break, but I didn't anticipate that I would be taking such a long one. Nonetheless, I'm hoping it has rekindled some old passions and initiated some new ones.

I'm resuming with this post today, and hope that I continue with greater vigour and energy as I return to an old habit that I've had most of my adult life.
