Dominos

This is a classic scene from The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon enjoys the falling of dominos.

Often, the actions that we take in executing a plan are like placing the individual dominos. Their effect won't be visible until the dominos begin to fall.

But when they do, missing dominos become evident by the breaks they create just like when we realise what it was that we missed which caused the execution of our plan to fail in some way.

If we have placed all the dominos correctly, then it is a beautiful sight when they fall.
